Togetherness at sea
Sail from Marina Punat to Ilovik and Sveti Petar (22 NM). Safe mooring buoys, a historic monastery, a love legend and Bavaria C38 Ohana yacht charter.
The islet of Sveti Petar lies opposite Ilovik, in a narrow sea passage that has been an important route for sailors for centuries. Today it is a place of peace, ruins and stories best experienced at sunset, safely moored on a buoy between the two islands.
On Sveti Petar you can see the remains of a medieval monastery, believed to have been Benedictine. Its strategic position allowed control of traffic through the channel, while the isolation suited monastic life. Over time the monastery was abandoned, leaving stone walls as a quiet historical trace amid untouched nature.
Local tradition tells of a young monk on Sveti Petar and a girl from Ilovik. Each evening a small light burned on the Ilovik shore, watched by the monk across the water. He was bound by vows, she by life on the island – close, yet unreachable. One night the light did not appear, and soon after the monastery fell silent. It is said that on calm evenings a faint shimmer can still be seen on the water, like a light that is still waiting.
The passage between Ilovik and Sveti Petar is known for sudden weather changes, especially during the sirocco and summer storms. Still, the channel itself offers well-protected and safe mooring. Sailors can berth on the south side of the pier in Ilovik or pick up one of around 70 mooring buoys in the passage, which is particularly sheltered from the bora wind.
Departing from Marina Punat on the island of Krk, it is about 22 nautical miles via Punta Križa to the Ilovik passage. An ideal distance for a relaxed day sail to one of the most beautiful channels in the northern Adriatic.
Ilovik, known for its greenery and flowers, offers a lively yet relaxed island atmosphere. Sveti Petar, just opposite, remains quiet and meditative. Together they create a unique spot where history, legend and complete maritime peace meet.
From Marina Punat we offer a modern family sailing yacht Bavaria C38 with air conditioning and full charter equipment.
The name Ohana comes from Hawaiian and means family – in a wider, warmer sense than blood relation.
Ohana are people connected by care, loyalty and togetherness. No one is left behind and everyone belongs. That is why it is the perfect boat name: the crew becomes a family sharing the sea, the route and the experience.
